Objects placed in a grave with the dead – whether they are inhumations or cremations. The exact purpose of grave goods is difficult to interpret. Some believe they were used as gifts to the gods, for use by the dead in the next world, they were for display, conspicuous consumption of expensive goods, or to affirm or deny the dead (or living) persons identity.
