- Cut of pit. After [556] was re-cleaned, it was realised there was further fill to be removed. This fill though, consisted of many layers and suggested that [556] had basically re-cut the original pit [603]. The main difference between them was that [603] is more vertical and has a sharper break of slope. It is of course possible that what was removed was slumped material and that would make [556] redundant / non-existant, but the removal of what seemed like different layers that didn't exactly match up with the previously excavated fills indicated a re-cut.
