Description
-
- (872) is the main fill of grave cut [871]. It contained a skeleton in poor condition. The pottery within (872) indicate that it is Roman date. The pottery within (872) were a selection of small sherds that are not grave goods (or even a pot broken over the body) as they are an assortment rather than pieces of the same pot and were found throughout the fill rather than placed with the body. The 7 nails found in (872) were evenly spaced (see sketch on reverse of 870) that indicate that the body was originally in a coffin.
