Group Description

    • Underlying the modern overburden, (914) formed the latest back fill of soakaway {912}. Under (914) was (915), which overlay (916) the primary fill of {912}. It is in is in an area of intensive Post Medieval activity. Soakaway {937} is just 1m east of {912}, and {912} is very similar in shape, size of depth to soakaway 666 in area 1. Construction cut [913] was dug for {912}, and the cut tapers inwards at the base probably because it is cut into natural sand. This soakaway was fed by the drain recorded in subgroup 290, and this group functioned as drainage facilities for number 44 Prescot Street.
