Group Description

    • Grave cut [1910] was dug into (1923) the fill of small pit cut [1924], the mixed fill of which was seen as a refuse deposit. Cut [1924] was dug into (1930), the upper fill of pit [1931], that also contained primary fill (1932). Ditch cut [1940], that was dug into (1948), sampled as <223>, which formed the fill of pit cut [1949]. The mixed fill of this pit indicated that it was a refuse pit, which was dug into the natural gravels and was one of the earliest features in this area of the site.

Dating Information

    • The datable material from these features was dated to 70-160AD. These features are seen as Roman III, and so these finds are residual.
