Group Description

    • Underlying the modern overburden, (1192) was the fill of irregular pit [1193], that appeared to have only the base remaining. It had been heavily truncated and its mixed fill indicates that it was possibly a refuse pit. Context (1172) was a probable redeposited cremation that filled [1171]. Both cuts [1171] and [1193] were dug into (1181), the fill of cut [1180]. This was seen as a grave cut, that was dug into the natural gravels of the site area and so the conditions were not conducive to for good preservation, accordingly no skeletal elements were recorded in this grave cut. Context [1180] was the earliest feature in this area of the site.
