Group Description

    • The Post Medieval garden soils overlay a north to south boundary marker in the form of cut [548] filled by (547), which was the same as (571), the silty fill of [572], a continuation of the linear. This feature is believed to correspond with a field boundary marker seen on the 1660's map of the site area. The feature had a north-south axis and was cut into the agricultural soils of the site are, and also truncated a number of other features, including Roman grave [765].

Dating Information

    • A total of 16 pot sherds were recovered from this feature, 14 of which were dated to 1480-1600AD, with the remaining two being dated to 1340-1350AD, these earlier pot sherds are seen as residual.
