Subgroup Narrative Text

    • Upper fills (668), (669) and (670) lay within soakaway (666), with (670) being the earliest in this sequence and overlaying {736}, a layer of bricks lain over the primary fill (737) of soak-away {666}. Context {736} was lain within {666} to act as feature to aid the drainage of water from the soak-away without the hindrance of silt. {736} was deliberately lain respective of the structure of {666} but obviously not as an original part of the structure.

Dating Narrative

    • The bricks that {736} were built from were unfrogged, indicating that they were mid Post Medieval, but they could of course have been reused at an later date. The fill overlying {736} was dated to 1840-1900AD by two pot sherds and the fill underlying {736} were dated to 1730-1830AD.
