Subgroup Narrative Text

    • Underlying the modern overburden was (586), the upper fill of soak-away {584}, the earlier fills were (587), and (588). The soak-away was built into construction cut [585], which was dug into (590), the fill of (589). Context (586) was a capping layer on top of the soakaway after its abandonment, and is recorded as subgroup (208).

Dating Narrative

    • No datable material was recovered from the fills of this soakaway. However, it was built from unfrogged bricks and given its stratigraphic position it is seen as Stewart/Georgian, probably associated with the late Post Medieval development that fronted on to Prescot Street.
