Subgroup Narrative Text

- Gravel fill (1338) was the latest fill of [1348], a Roman pit which went beyond the limit of excavation. This pit also contained primary fill (1341), the Lower fill of [1348]. This lower fill was very gravely and was seen as a slumped layer that collapsed into the pit after the excavation. The pit itself is seen as having been cut for gravel extraction, and was dug into layer (1323).
