- Pit cuts [1732] and [1789] were dug into (1781), the latest fill of pit [1783]. Within fill (1781) lay (1782), a redeposited cremation, that overlay another redeposited cremation (1792), sampled as <187>. The gravel at the interface between the fill and the natural has been stained black as in pits [1721] and [1732]. This was possibly a gravel extraction pit, but it also contains at least two cremations, so may have had a funerary function. Several of the pot sherds recovered were associated with bits of burnt bone, reflecting that they are redeposited, therefore the pit cut is seen as having been dug for a purpose other than receiving the cremations, and the redeposited cremations are seen as part of the later back filling of the pit. Cut [1783] was dug into (1754), the fill of pit cut [1755].
