- Fill of 1789
Subgroup Narrative Text
-
- Pit cut [1791] was dug into (1788), the back fill of heavily truncated Roman quarry pit [1789]. Due to the heavy truncation this pit was reduced to a horse shoe shape, but survived enough to give an idea of its size, which indicates that it was a gravel extraction pit. The occasional cultural inclusions indicate that fill (1788) was more likely a later back filling event rather than a slumped deposit. Cut [1789] was dug into fills (1774) and (1781).
