- Cut [1863] was dug into (328), the fill of ditch [327]. Fill (328) was a moderate-firmly compacted mid yellow-brown sandy silt, with occasional inclusions of pot, fragmented red CBM, and pebbles which were well sorted throughout the deposit. This mixed fill indicated a refuse deposit. Ditch cut [327] was cut into (329), a moderate-firm dark yellow-brown deposit of sand and gravels that overlay the natural gravels of the site area.

Dating Narrative

- No datable finds were recovered from the fill of this pit, but given its stratigraphic position it is seen as Roman.
