Group Description

    • Pit cut [1496] was cut into dumped deposit (1526), a layer of containing redeposited cremation fragments and a mix of other cultural material, indicating that this was redeposited materials, probably from the cemetery. This layer overlay the natural gravels of the site area. Pit cut [1523] was dug into (1532), which overlay (1534); both (1532) and (1534) were layers of mixed dumped deposits, and within (1534) was redeposited cremation (1631). These were possible levelling deposits dug from within the area of the site. Underlying (1534) was (1642), the fill of pit cut [1635].

Dating Information

    • Of the 32 pot sherds recovered from layer (1526), all were dated to 180-300AD. A total of nine pot sherds were recovered from (1534) all of which were dated 120-160AD, and 35 sherds were recovered from (1532), all of which were dated to 150-300AD. The sherds from (1534) are seen as residual.
