Sub Groups
Group Description
-
- The pits in this group are seen as charnal pits. Truncated by Post Medieval foundation cuts was (1293), the fill of pit [1292]. Two skulls (1286) and (1303), both without lower jaws were placed deliberately in the pit, rather than dumped, as indicated by both the skulls being upright. Pit cut [1292] was cut into (1272) the fill of pit [1271], which had inclusions of a dump of human bone as well as a range of other inclusions in the mixed dumped deposit. Oval pit cut [1271] was cut into pit fill (1322), the fill of pit [1321].

Dating Information
-
- A total of seven pot sherds were recovered from pit [1292], all of which were dated to 120-160AD. Pit [1271] produced a total of 44 pot sherds, all of which were dated to 250-400AD. However, stratigraphically cut [1292] has to be later, and is seen as Roman IV, and so these finds are seen as residual.
