- Underlying gravel capping layers (809) and (810) was (881), the mixed fill of quarry pit cut [882]. The fill was predominantly sands and gravel although there were lenses of clayey silt which was at its thickest at the bottom and to the south of the quarry pit. These indicated that the fills could have been water lain, possibly part of a natural erosional process that would have occurred after the pit was left open subsequent to abandonment. The cut itself, [882], was quite large, measuring 11 metres x 3.6 metres with a depth of c.1.8 metres. It was heavily truncated quarry pit. No finds were recorded in the fill. [882] was dug into the (847) the fill of [848].

Dating Information

- No datable finds were recovered from (881), the relatively sterile fill of cut [882]. However, given the featrues stratigraphic position, it is seen as Post Medieval.
