Dating Information
-
- Not all of the layers in this group produced datable material, but given their stratigraphic position, they are seen as early Roman. The datable total pot sherds recovered from layers in this group was all dated to 70-160AD. However the material from the primary fill of this feature was dated to 120-160, indicating that the material in these upper layers dating 70-120 is residual, possibly having been dug from deposits elsewhere in the site area to level off the land. The relative sterile nature of some of these layers indicates that they may have been dug from within the site area to function as leveling deposits.
