Subgroup Narrative Text

    • Context (1639), a deposit of brickearth that could have been a make up layer for metaled surface (1513), overlay (1652), a layer of redeposited natural that overlay (1651), the fill of pit cut [1650], that was cut into the natural gravels of the site area. The mixed deposits within lower fill (1651) and the heavily abraded inclusions indicate this to be a refuse pit.

Dating Narrative

    • No datable finds were recovered from the fill of this pit, but given its stratigraphic position it is seen as early Roman.
