Subgroup Narrative Text

    • Underlying the modern overburden and in an area of heavy truncation, lay (1703), what was thought to be a disturbed cremation. It is possible that this was a redeposited cremation, given that cut [1704] was a fairly ephemeral small shallow cut, and could have been a depression. This feature was subject to heavy horizontal truncation, and its function is uncertain. Cut [1704] was dug into fill (1655).

Dating Narrative

    • Although pot was recorded as having been found in this feature, it is stated in the post-ex records that none has been provided for dating and processing. This may result from excavator error or a loss of the material at some point in the post-ex procedure. However, the nature of the feature indicated that it was Roman.
