- Cut of pit filled by 1879
Subgroup Narrative Text
-
- Diffuse capping layer (1849) overlay (1879), the top fill of [1880], a quarry pit cut. The fill consisted of mixed dumps of brickearth and fragments of redeposited cremations, indicating that the back fills had been excavated from within the area of the cemetery. Pit cut [1880] also held primary deposit (1884), a dark fill with Amphore fragments. These mixed dumped deposits were seen as back fills used to level off the area of the pit after it had been dug to access the sites gravels. Cut [1880] was dug into deposit (1899).
