Subgroup Narrative Text

    • Pit cut [1829] was dug into (1841), the back fill of quarry pit [1844], which was dug into (1852) the fill of heavily truncated quarry pit [1853], that was dug into the natural gravels of the site area, and was one of the earliest features in this area of the site. Cut [1844] was also dug into (1854) the fill of pit cut [1855]. The size of [1844] indicates that it was a gravel extraction pit, and (1841) was seen as a back fill deposit, dumped to fill in the area affected by the pit cut.

Dating Narrative

    • Three datable pot sherds were recovered from (1841), all of which were dated to 50-160AD.
