Subgroup Narrative Text

    • Early Post Medieval ditch cut [1350]=[1701]=[314] was dug into (1724), sampled as <162>, which formed the back fill of Roman quarry pit [1748]. The size of [1748] indicated that it could have been a quarry pit, and the mixed fill (1724), with frequent domestic waste, was seen as a later back filling layer, used to level off the area affected by the excavation of the pit. Cut [1748] was dug into (1764), the brick earth fill of pit [1762].

Dating Narrative

    • A total of 16 pot sherds were recovered from the fill of this pit, all of which were dated to 120-160AD.
