- pit cut
Subgroup Narrative Text
-
- Cut [1691] was dug into (1877), the fill of large Roman pit [1878]. Fill (1877) was a brick earth mix with frequent to moderate amounts of cultural inclusions. The size of [1878] indicated that it was a quarry pit, with the apparently single fill (1877) being a later back fill to level off the area affected by the excavation of the quarry pit. Cut [1878] was cut into (1875) the fill of large truncated Roman pit [1876]
