- Ditch [332] was dug into (321), the fill ditch [320]. The fill was a moderately compacted dark yellow-brown sandy silt that contained occasional pieces of pot, but significantly there were also frequent amounts of red CBM, both tiles and bricks, of which some were whole. These ceramic remains have been dated from c.50 to c.160AD, and have been noted as having a main centre of manufacture in the Brockley Hill region and neighbouring kiln sites between London and St Albans, although it is also noted that they were also made to the south-west of London. This type of ceramic building material was ubiquitous in Roman London. Ditch [320] ran in a diagonal north-east to south-west, and was dug into the natural gravels of the site area.
