- In an area of heavy truncation, underlying the modern overburden lay (1864), a Roman layer, that functioned as a capping layer, which overlay (1865) a further capping layer. Underlying (1865), was (1930) the secondary fill of pit cut [1931].

Dating Narrative

- A total of eight pot sherds were recovered from theses layers, all of which were dated to 250-400AD, showing it to be late Roman.
