- Fill of middle quarry pit 890
Subgroup Narrative Text
-
- Compacted gravel layer (814) was stratigraphically overlay (885), the surviving fill of quarry pit [890]. The fill afforded very good preservation as shown by the survival of leather and cloth within the deposit, indicating that it was a later back fill deposit, used to level off the area of land affected by the excavation of [890]. This fill was sampled as <21> to determine environmental conditions and the function of the feature - but it was probably dumped back fill.
