- Underlying (616), a heavily compacted layer of gravels was (621), a further layer of dirty gravels that had been used as a capping layer. This was seen as the same context as (617), a continuation of the layer of compacted gravels, which sealed a number of quarry pits. This layer was very heavily compacted and was probably laid down to address the relative moderate compaction of the underlying pit fills in an episode of land re-use.
