Field Archaeologists work on excavations – they dig, record and monitor evidence for the past. But not all archaeologists dig holes. There are many different areas of archaeology in which people work and roughly 5000 people work as archaeologists in the UK today. Part of a drainage system, this small brick lined feature may have acted like a silt trap. It was connected via a brick and stone drain to a soak-away.
